HP Fingerprint Reader Not Working


 

Possible Causes:

  • Outdated or missing fingerprint driver.
  • Windows Hello misconfiguration.

Solutions:

  1. Update Biometric Drivers:

    • Open Device Manager, expand Biometric Devices, and update the fingerprint driver.
  2. Check Windows Hello Settings:

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options, and ensure the fingerprint option is enabled.
  3. Reconfigure the Fingerprint Sensor:

    • Remove the existing fingerprint and set it up again in Windows Hello.
  4. Reinstall HP SimplePass or DigitalPersona:

    • If your HP model uses additional software for biometrics, reinstall it from the HP support site.
